This week was a hard one for me, it’s always really hard to get back into the swing of working 7 days a week, but once you do you kinda forget about it. This week though, was painful. Long days, cranky customers, and constant running around and counting. At least it was sunny for the last few days!
I wanted to tell you guys about my first encounter with wheatgrass today. Im fortunate enough to sell organic wheatgrass around Easter-time at our store. We sell it mainly for decorative purposes, or to fill Easter baskets with…but its perfect for juicing (or blending) because its grown on an organic farm. Very cool. So suddenly yesterday while I was selling Easter lilies, I had a brain storm and thought “man I really want to start using wheatgrass in my green monsters.” Weird thought… since I kind of jumped off of the Green Monster band wagon a few months ago.
As always I made it up as I went:
First I sliced up a banana and threw it into the freezer. They freeze up quickly, and I dont like to add ice to my smoothies. (Just a personal preference.. I hate drinking cold water too).
After the banana, I started slicing up a mango. Speaking of, does anyone know the right way to slice a mango? I can’t stand it and always make a HUGE mess.
I sliced up four giant strawberries too, just because I had them.
I put them all in the blender and added only a little less than a cup of almond milk… just because I finished off the bottle and didnt have any more.
Then I topped it with my fresh cut wheatgrass!
The smoothie came out really good. It would have been super sweet if it was just fruit, but the wheatgrass gave it a very earthy flavor.
It was a good healthy boost after a day of heavy food, and too much chocolate. But now Im dreaming about lamb again.
